Ann-Marie teaches voicework as a personal intent, specializing in the exploration of improvised vocalization, ‘vocables’ and intentional sounding. A very common question asked is: What are ‘vocables’? Vocables are made up words in the moment intended to bring the listener out of the thinking mind and into a feeling, heart-centered space. They also encourage the listener to create their own storyline. A variety of workshops are available, her two most popular are outlined below. This workshop is for those just beginning to explore their voices.
Long before there were instruments we expressed ourselves with our first instrument, the human voice. Each of us has our own personal vocal sound. This workshop presents you with a chance to move more deeply into your own personal sound. This sensitive work involves deep listening, emotional receptivity and communication from the heart. Theoretically it includes working with ostinatos, patterned music, getting comfortable with impromptu singing as well as learning the art of ‘vocables’. Vocalists will also learn to work in group intentional sounding sessions for receivers.
